When Aharon cast his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, it became a "snake" (taw/nun/yod/nun) that swallowed the "snakes" of the wise men of Egypt. This word "tanneen" is from the root taw/nun/alef, meaning "to teach." This means that the snake/teaching Moshe and Aharon proclaimed to Pharaoh and the wise men of Mitzraim utterly overwhelmed the prevailing wisdom/snakes of Egypt: the wisdom of Yisrael did not negate or obliterate those teachings, but overcame their restrictions/boundaries (signified by the word Mitzraim): the truth that had been entrusted to the Egyptians-- to the people of YHWH, according to the prophets-- was made insignificant in their own eyes: was "swallowed up" by the teachings of Moshe and Aharon. The names (wisdom allocations) of the gods of the peoples of earth are not to be found in our mouths/expressions: not because they are devilish and false, but because the Yisraeli has been translated to the other side of Yordan and is entrusted with higher wisdom. The way to destroy the "gods" that are not gods is to proclaim the true El, not to war against the false ones. When the true meanings of the incomplete concepts are revealed, the incomplete will be swallowed up by the complete. Until the time we see things of the Spirit in the dimension of face upon Face, it must be admitted that we know only in part: though most reading this website commonly use the terminologies of the Judeao-Christian-Mulsim tradition(s), our knowledge of what those terms mean is incomplete until we, ourselves, are complete. In a sense, therefore, our usage of even these favored terms is idolatrous, in that our minds have yet to reach the full stature of the mind that was in Y'shua haMashiyach, and in that the meanings we ascribe to the terms we use fall short of the mark. Let us, therefore, not be offended by terminologies. Let us seek Truth together; for Truth will set us free.
